Emily is a designer who gets it.
It was back in 2010, before Pinterest or home makeover shows even existed, when Emily and her husband Ryan took on their first real renovation project. It was a true D-I-Y of a two-bedroom, one-bath 1940s cottage in Oklahoma City. Neighbors thought the youngsters might be a little bold in their choices, tearing out old, dilapidated dark wood cabinets and replacing them with stark white shaker ones (a look that would become wildly popular just a few years later). Room by room, the house became light, bright, and to-this-day timeless, and Ryan says he learned to trust Emily’s eye for design as they jointly worked on the next one and the next one. Fast forward more than a decade, two children, a couple moves, and countless projects later, and Emily has become a well-known design maven, sought after by clients throughout the area. Her company, Emily Wood Design. Co., is an entity known and trusted by clients and industry professionals alike, as she and her team provide white-glove design services delivering stunning finished products. Emily is bringing custom to a new level in Springfield through her extensive travels, ongoing education, continual immersion in construction and architectural treatments, and dedicated sourcing of furnishings and art from around the globe. Emily’s team also incorporates cutting-edge technologies and unexpected quality-of-life elements into every project.
If you have lived in the Ozarks for a while, it is very likely you may remember Emily as a hardworking and trusted TV news anchor and reporter. Emily holds a degree in journalism from Northwestern University and has received many accolades including multiple Emmys as well as an Edward R. Murrow for her work. Little did Emily realize when she left journalism that there would be such a pent-up demand for someone with her talent, eye, experience and expertise in the Ozarks. Within a matter of months, the secret of Emily’s new design business was out.
